Doll Artist- Sonja Bryer

Sonja demonstrated artistic talent from a very early age but did not begin sculpting until the late 1970s.  By 1980, she had begun to sell her dolls and became a member of ODACA (Original Doll Artists Council of America).  1980 was also a big year for Sonja as she won several awards for her first portrait doll.  In 1991, Sonja was awarded her first company contract with The Danbury Mint. This was followed by contracts with Ashton Drake, The Franklin Mint, Eighteen Character dolls for the Disney Company, a Wizard of Oz series for Warner Brothers and a 15 years ongoing contract with Marie Osmond’s Company.

Sonja’s work has been widely recognized, with her winning numerous awards from “Doll Reader”, Doll Award of Excellence, and “Doty” awards for “Can-Can Katy” and “My Little Angel.”  She has been featured on several occasions in leading doll magazines including Doll Reader, Dolls and Contemporary Dolls.  In 2006, she was the UFDC featured artist with her lovely 71/2” "Return to Tara" Scarlet doll.

In 2013, Sonja launched her website sonjabryerdolls.com where she sells made to order portrait dolls and exquisite one-of-a kind porcelain bjd creations.

Sonja works mainly in porcelain and many of her dolls have a lovely delicate almost other worldly appeal.

Sonja is our honored featured artist for the “Princess and the Frog” breakfast break-out event.
